Run2Cure Local - how does it work?

Location and distances

Choose to take part in one of our five distance options: 1k, 3k, 5k or 10k wherever you are in the world, at any time from 5am Saturday 5th of September till 6pm Sunday 6 September (AET).

Get timed

Want to get an official time for your 3K, 5K or 10K run? Or even compete in our virtual run2cure competition? Just download our special SportsSplits tracker app. Details will be sent to you the week after you have registered with your access link to the app.

Medals

You can organise medals to commemorate you and/or your teams’ participation.

Medals can be ordered for $5 per medal including postage (for one address).

Prizes

Fundraising prizes and running prizes will be awarded! We will post your prizes to Australian addresses free of charge however, there will be postage charges for international addresses.

This year we are holding a photo competition with three categories

1. #gogold - September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month so help us raise the profile by wearing gold

2. #heroes - Dress up yourself or get the kids dressed up as your heroes

3. #family - Celebrate your family or what family means to you

Racing bibs

If you register before midnight on 9 August, you will receive a personalised race bib posted to you! Register after midnight on 9 August but before midnight on 31 August and you will receive a PDF of your personalised bib to print at home.

If you want to see how your time compares with others running at the Domain, you will be able to do so by downloading the SportSplits tracker app. There will be a leaderboard showing how your time compares to other people running virtually and prizes for the best times too from the virtual racers!

Once you register, you will be given access to the SportSplits tracker app. You will be sent an email with the details how to access the app but we've also included some helpful links below.

The best part is you can see your time against other Run2Cure Local runners through the leader board shown for all virtual runners on the app.

The app automatically records your time once the chosen distance has been completed so the results are instantly available.

Run2Cure FAQs

How much money raised by Run2Cure Local will go towards research?

80% of the funds raised through Run2Cure Local will go directly to research projects into kinder, better and more effective treatments for the children's cancer neuroblastoma.

The remaining 20% goes to running the virtual event and the charity Neuroblastoma Australia. Our annual report is available here if you'd like more information about where funding goes.

What time does Run2Cure Local start?

Take part at any time from 5 am Saturday 5 September till 6 pm Sunday 6 September. If you want to compete virtually against runners at the Sydney Domain event you can do so by downloading our race app. Visit our Run2Cure Local page for full details.

Will I still receive fundraising prizes for Run2Cure Local?

Yes, visit our Fundraise page to see the rewards for fundraising. We will post your prizes to Australian addresses free of charge however, there may be postage charges for international addresses.

What if I don't want to accept fundraising prizes?

We offer prizes in recognition of the work involved with fundraising however we understand that some of our generous supporters would prefer not to receive these prizes.

This year we will offer everyone the choice, so if you want, you can choose to donate what you've earned back to the charity to help with future fundraisers.

I registered for Run2Cure Domain - how do I get my free Run2Cure Local ticket?

If you registered for Run2Cure Domain you get free entry to Run2Cure Local however you still need to fill in a transfer form. If you have not done so yet, please email us info@nb.org.au

Can I still run the same distances in Run2Cure Local as I would in the Domain?

You can still choose to run, walk or jog from the same distances as our annual fun run in the Domain (1k, 3k, 5k or 10k), HOWEVER you get to choose anytime between 5am on 5 September until 6pm 6 September, anywhere you are in the world.

Will I still get a participation medal for Run2Cure Local?

You can still organise medal to commemorate you and/or your teams’ participation. Medals can be ordered for $5 per medal including postage (for one address in Australia).

What do I do if I have registered for Run2Cure Domain?

Thank you for your support!

The first step is to fill in our transfer form. You should have received a link to the form via email, but if you have not please contact us at info@nb.org.au.

Once you have submitted the form:

* If you are registered for our 3K, 5K or 10K runs, you will receive an email (within the next seven to ten days) giving you access to our new running app. You will then be able to use the app to get a time for your run/walk on 5th or 6th September.

* You will also receive a 20% discount code for Run2Cure Merchandise.

* If you transfer before 9 August, you will receive a personalised bib.

* You will also be eligible for free entry into Run2Cure 2021.

All Run2Cure Go Fundraise pages have now been transferred to our Run2Cure Local event along with any donations received to date. Please do share your fundraising page as every dollar helps us with our mission. To find your fundraising page, just enter your name here or use the links previously provided via email.
